Animals !

Hello !

A few days ago, I had a project cancelled for another one : fabric prints. I made a jungle theme sketch, and I had an idea, so I made it anyway for my portfolio, and decided to make other animal themed illustrations.

This fabric would be nice for a children's room, for sheets or pillows. I choosed a jungle theme because it can fit either boys or girls, kids love animals and it's part of their playful learning.

Those cute animal icons can be used as a frame in a children's room or something. I think it's very important for children to learn to extrapolate from minimal drawings as soon as they can.

And here's a little children's book illustration. Maybe next time I'll make human-like animals, but it was really fun to design those cute animals. There's no actual story behind this drawing, but the moral of the story is about asking for help instead of thinking you're too small to stand up for your rights.

And the last illustration is for a children's book cover ... or a invitation card. I didn't want to use black or even dark grey for her bee costume, but I really like the final result anyway.

And this is it !

Children book : Zoe and the magic star.

Hello !

Here's a project I worked on : it's a children's book named "Zoe and the magic star" . It wasn't supposed to be published anyway, but I needed to have a complete project done by myself ( usually, I only illustrate ).
I made 16 illustrations for this book, plus the cover.

Zoe is in kindergarten, and she's very excited today because she's going to do her favorite activity : painting.

She goes to school with her mom ,and her friend asks her what is she going to paint, but Zoe keeps it secret : it's a surprise !

When she finishes her drawing, she's very proud of herself.

But then in the playground, she hears her friends talking about their drawings and she doesn't feel confident about it anymore.

That's when a magical star appears and helps her, showing Zoe all the great work she's done and making her confident again.

I really enjoyed working on this, children's books projects are by far my favorite kind of projects ! This story is about confidence, because I think it's important for kids to learn how much their work worth. It was really fun to illustrate and create the plot and everything, and I was very happy of the result.

Food for life !

Hello !

I'm back with some food themed illustrations. I'm definitely not done with this theme ( and I'd probably never be ) but it's fine anyway because it's a really -really- vaste one ! That means more fun with the drawings.

Food around the World.

This first illustration is about food around the world.  I tried to keep the flags in simple shapes, but some flags were already so simple ...
Can you guess all the countries and foods ?

Seamless Cupcake Pattern.

And here's a cute lil' seamless pattern ! While takling about food, I couldn't  forget those delicious and adorable cakes. Plus they come in so many colors and shapes ... it was really fun !

Bed & Breakfast.

Here's a lillte Bed & Breakfast banner, or card maybe ... I just wanted to make a sober looking design, just something to go with the concept of B&B.

Big enough to help my friends.

And finally a children's book illustration. I really wanted to try this kind of eyes ( very small ball, almost a point ), I wasn't 100% convinced at first, but I think it turned out fine anyway.
The story behind this drawing : the little girl lost her ballon to prevent her friend from falling, and then was kind of sad about the balloon, even if she was happy for saving her friend. To thank her,
this magical butterfly offered her a lollipop that never ends. Nothing amazing but still nice for children.

And this is it ! Feel free to leave a comment ( maybe if you want to suggest the next theme ? I'd love to hear your suggestions ! ) , and see you next time for more illustrations !

Have a nice day !

Sea theme illlustrations, three different syles !

Hello !

We had a beautiful summer-like weather yesterday, it put me in the mood of designing some sea themed illustrations.

Seabed fun.

I was going for a childish and colored look for this  one, I just had fun with some colors and some sea animals.

Relaxing sea set.

This style is really fun to work with ! It was kind of my first time experiencing it , but next time I'll take the graphic touch to a new level ... let's just hope it'll come great.

I'm a Pirate !

And finally a pirate themed children's book illustration. This style is really simple, and I love to try to take complex objects and bring them to a minimalist and geometric design. Even this cute kitten.

And this is it ! See you next time for more illustrations !

Welcome to my blog !

Hello and welcome to my blog ! My name is Lily and I'm a french illustrator. I'm really passionate about drawing, especially cute illustrations but not only : I also love themed drawings (seasons, colors, places ... ), patterns, greeting cards and basically everything that can be drawn.

Children's book illustrations are my favorite kind of drawings because they're not single projects, but they're part of a whole project with a lot of thinking and ideas needed, and that's just what I love to work with. Ideas.

Thanks for visiting my blog, and I'll see you soon for more illustrations !
